4,5 Sweet Stars When tragedy strikes Olivia s life and its consequences put her life in danger, Grayson Taylor, the hot deputy that used to be her crush in high school is the one who will step up and make sure she s safe He may have his own selfish reasons for it, but he s decided to don t let anything happen to her, especially because he has every intention on keeping her But when that tragedy evolves into a fight that divides a whole community in half and spreads even danger, Grayson and Olivia will realize that some wars, aren t just meant to be won This was a sweet and sexy romance story with a powerful background A story about learning how to heal after tragedy and about learning how to live peacefully in community, I love to see the development of Olivia and Grayson s story and the building of their romance The racism issue that unfortunately is still very real today, was dealt with brilliantly and definitely brought this book to a whole other level K C Lynn is always an auto buy for me, and after this K Langston is definitely one author that I will check out There was only one issue for me in this book and it was view spoiler how quickly Olivia healed for being raped Yes, I understand that she and Grayson fell in love meanwhile and that he was the one who saved her, but how they start a physical relationship so soon after her horrific abuse and there wasn t much problem in that department, didn t make much sense to me, especially when usually rape victims have difficulty in re initiate their sexual life after the abuse hide spoiler

2.5 Stars I really wanted to love this, I really did But the subject matter is too close to my heart to be non subjective, I m sorry. This book contains very serious issues, and very relevant problems that are very prominent in today s world It was a lovely story, it really was but I just couldn t relate to the heroine. The issue of racism was dealt with brilliantly, and I applaud the authors for dealing with an issue that needs to be dealt with, even today. The issue of rape however, I am sorry, but I it wasn t realistic to me at all Speaking from experience, it takes than a good man to help heal the wounds of a such a brutal event It takes years, a lot of personal evaluation and self discovery to even contemplate feeling like you can move on and I am sorry if I am being picky, but I wanted of the emotional healing, in favour of the eroticism that seemed to be prevalent here.Personally, I would have preferred on the romance side, I felt like the two main characters fell into a relationship due the circumstances rather than fell in love at a natural pace.As always, this is my honest opinion and I am sorry to say that this book wasn t for me.This is a standalone, dual POV contemporary fiction ARC gratefully received from the author in exchange for an honest review

1 2 Stars Seek the truth and you will find justice Well, we re actually not sure what to say other than this is one of the upsetting and topical books we ve read in a while It literally was just so bloody sad and disturbing encompassing what is still so inherently wrong in the real world today coupled with the increase in disturbing bragging rights videos we see on social media depicting other people s misery as a trophy You live what you learn Unlawful Justice was quite a mixed bag of emotions for us Whilst reading we questioned our feelings on the combination of the hard hitting poignant issues and the inclusion of, for want of a better word, soft erotica In our reading opinions, we don t think the latter had any part to play in such an emotive led story considering the actual devastating and tragic crux of Unlawful Justice which ultimately led the story of Liv, Grayson and Harmony Falls The inclusion felt wrong on so many levels to us and quite unbelievable considering the psychological trauma and disturbing circumstances over what is really a very short period of time It was unnecessary, in our opinion You re healing me in ways I never thought possible For us the support, healing, loyalty and beautiful romance between Liv and Grayson would have had a much stronger impact, because that we truly felt Instead we felt uncomfortable it was as if everything became somewhat cheapened and we had to skim those parts which felt like a crime in itself whilst reading a very brave and heartfelt well written book by K.C Lynn K Langston This is such a shame as these Authors had such a powerful story to tell, which they sure did, and their characters went on one hell of a journey for love, justice and community spirit and equality Hate isn t something you re born with, it s taught Overall Unlawful Justice is a realistic look at the appalling and trauma inducing issues which face our society today whilst offering hope, inspiration and courage Without question this is a story that is relevant and should be read, we just couldn t appreciate the full journey due to the before mentioned issue, the epilogue was beautiful TB Blog TotallybookedBlog Come say Hi TB on Facebook Follow us TB on Twitter Check out TB on Pinterest We re on TSU TB on TSU

Unpopular opinion alert I just didn t like it I think the issues were well brought up and discussed but we re not executed well SPOILERS So the woman was gang raped She never really dealt with it 3 weeks later she s totally fine having sex with the guy and in love The timeline for me was not realistic I just couldn t continue It s well know I have no heart but I should have felt SOMETHING, and I didn t The character just up and moved on so why should I dwell on it.

Review by Natasha GentileThis book is co written by two authors I am very very familiar with one, KC Lynn but have yet to read any works from K Langston so I wasn t sure what to expect I didn t know if they would mesh well Let me just say now that these two writers simply intertwined so well that you couldn t tell who was writing which part I do have to say that I wasn t sure what to expect with this book But while reading it I will say that this book was like it was ripped from the headlines Headlines that make us shudder, headlines that make us cringe and headlines that make us ask that is this really happening in the day and age The answer is yes, and while we all sit there saying a person is a person regardless of their age, sex or skin color It seems we don t all have this mentality These two touched a subject that very few will actually go They touched on both sides, they touched that in the end justice will always prevail Here is my journey with Unlawful Justice. In the peaceful small town of Harmony Falls, Texas, lives schoolteacher Olivia Bradshaw Orphaned at a young age Olivia lives with her Pap on his farm It s the place that you read about all the time and always want to visit, it s a town you sit down thinking to yourself if I ever get to go on a road trip I want to drive through this town grabbing myself some biscuits and gravy. When an unspeakable crime hits this sleepy town sides are made, relationships are divided But when some harbor revenge it s a injustice just waiting to happen Leaving Olivia open for their revenge I can t go into detail about his revenge I will say that although I wanted to plow through this book because it was so good I just couldn t read it in one shot I literally had to put it down and walk away With tears in my eyes, my stomach in my throat, my heart pounding while it breaks and my mind in a haze, I look around thinking that this can t possible still happen I mean we are all just people To see the way this courtroom is divided is gut wrenching Right now, it s about black and white, not right or wrong, and justice is nothing than an afterthought In this town everyone knows everyone but this crimes pushes people to divide and doubt To pick sides even though the sides are shaded Why does there have to be sides Why does it have to be about color Why can t it be about right and wrong Because that s not the world we live in Well then, I choose peace My breathe hitches as I try to hold back tears I choose love, not hate Deputy Grayson Taylor is a man on a mission It s a different mission than what he thought he would be on You see he seeks the truth and he seeks justice Having been the one to come to Liv s side there is nothing that he won t do for her He is ready to put himself and his beliefs on the line for her For love For right For wrong Hate isn t something you re born with, it s taught.Grayson is in it to win or better yet to make sure Liv is whole again He ll stop at nothing to do that for her Putting him in a harm s way he didn t know about Seek the truth and you will find justice. But is anyone truly ready for the truth Is anyone truly ready for the secrets that the truth holds Is anyone really ready for the truth that they believed or will the past truths be the justice you seek now And just like that you sit down and think to yourself in a world filled with so much hate where and what do you do to change that You teach, you educate you fight, you love, you live And that is what KC Lynn and K Langston did They taught us that it is not the color of your skin but the truth that wins.Martin Luther King, Jr Darkness cannot drive out darkness only light can do that Hate cannot drive out hate only love can do that In the end we are all just one person, it doesn t matter the color of your skin, it doesn t matter if you are male or female, it doesn t matter if you 10 or 90 it matters about the person you want to be It matters in what you teach and show the others around you So take a step back and look at the person next to you and wonder why chose hate Why chose anything but respect and love for one and other It takes but one person to make a difference so why not be that one person
