I can only count the Blackhawks as my favorite team amongst all of Chicago s franchises in the four major sports baseball, football, basketball, hockey The other teams I am either indifferent towards, or actually dislike Though, while I may not be a fan of all of Chicago s Big Teams , I am a fan of this book. All of Chicago s teams have had individual players throughout their histories that I have been a fan of, and this book covers them all The players from my childhood are the ones with a favored place in my memories Ernie Banks and Ron Santo, Gale Sayers and Dick Butkus, Tony Esposito these are the standouts in my memories, and they all shine in this book along with many other great Chicago sports personalities And, yes, of course Michael Jordan is well represented. The photographs in this book are exceptional Glorious full color images as well as great black white photography cover the entire lifetimes of these franchises Nary a single page is devoid of at least one great image I loved the big full color photographs of Ernie Banks and Ron Santo The Curse of the Black Cat in Wrigley, Disco Demolition Night at Comiskey, Shoeless Joe and Babe Ruth s called shot they re all here The text flows with the images to create a wonderful history of these great franchises and the individuals and events that make them unique. If you are a fan of any of Chicago s major sport franchises, or just a fan of professional team sports in general, you will love this book My only wish for it is that it could somehow include the stories and stars of tomorrow I guess I will just have to wait for volume 2.
